Meet the contestants from the 2021 Great British Sewing Bee

Adam - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Adam is great fun to watch on the 2021 Great British Sewing Bee! His banter with Joe Lycett is exactly what we need during these times.

Adam works on a cruise ship as a cruise director, is also a knitter, sewer, pianist and a theatre lover. Adam spent lockdown in Leicester with his mum; Adam also has a dog called Henry. Adam is so cheerful and the banters between him and Joe Lycett are quite funny to watch! Adam's Instagram handle is @adamjamesbrooks_. We wonder if Adam's waistcoats are a staple ala Steve Arnott from AC12?

Andrew - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Andrew lives in Hull with his rabbit and lovely partner Paul, who works as a priest. Andrew makes stain glass windows from his workshop.

In the first episode in season 7, Andrew went the extra mile in the Made to Measure challenge by crocheting a collar to complement his Buffet Dress. Andrew joined Instagram a few days ago on 6 April, just before the show aired on 14 April. Andrew is on @andrew.aspland.

Adeena - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Adeena from Birmingham is a student engagement officer at the University College Birmingham.

Adeena created an absolutely hilarious moment on the show with her harem pants in the transformation challenge. Judge Patrick Grant was totally in tears! She is inspired to sew garments by her mother. Adeena's positive mentality shines through on her Instagram @deesewcialspace - check out her fashion sketches and really elaborate sews on her feed!

Lawratu - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Lawratu lives in Surrey with her husband a her daughter and cat Hector.

She finds the shop-bought ready to made garments doesn't fit her properly so she's motivated by sewing her own clothes to promote body positivity. Lawratu is on Instagram under the handle @seamesew. She uses a Janome DKS100 for her home sewing.

Cathryn - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Cathryn is retired and lives in East Yorkshire with her cat Zingy Stardust and dog Beano.

She likes David Bowie and spends her free time quilting and sewing garments. Cathryn is a quilter and a garment sewer, who sews for friends and friends' kids! She recently joined Instagram on @cathrynsews and you can follow her home sewing journey there.

Damien - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Damien from Lancashire has a few manly pursuits such as home brewing, biking, and playing the guitar. He picked up sewing during the lockdown to sew outfits for his girlfriend. When he told his mates about his new hobby, they took a bit of a mickey out of him initially! But who's laughing now - Damien has got a spot on the Great British Sewing Bee 2021 and as a novice sewer, survived the elimination in Week One! He has a gungho approach to sewing, his sewing philosophy is "fake it till you make it". Damien's adventurous spirit makes him really fun to watch!

Jean - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Jean is my FAVOURITE character on the Sewing Bee so far! Working as an art psychotherapist, Jean lives in Northern Ireland with her rescue cat Yoda.

My favourite scene of Jean is of her posing with Yoda in matching outfits! Jean got the whole nation (and Patrick Grant) laughing with tears rolling down their eyes, when Jean placed a clowder of cats in the crotch area of her transformation creation. Jean is on Instagram (by way of Yoda the cat) @yodie_pawson.

Julie - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Julie lives in Rotherham and enjoys burlesque! She got a bit confused with "bagging out the vest" and got stuck with the buttonhole in the first challenge in Week One, and unluckily she ran out of time in the Made to Measure Challenge as well. Julie could be seen getting quite emotional about the mishap. Unfortunately, with a lack-lustre transformation challenge, Julie failed to impress the judges on the first weekend of the competition, and was sadly eliminated from Week One. We are sorry that we don't manage to see more of Julie!

Raph - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Frenchman Raph's day job is a textile artist and a film industry toiler. Being in the film industry he recounts a brilliant anecdote of "throwing blood at Brad Pitt"!

He lives in London with a British Shorthair cat, uses the Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine and sews both menswear and womenswear. Raph's beautiful Buffet Dress won him garment of the week on Week One! Raph's Instagram handle is @raph_sew_and_so.

Rebecca - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Rebecca is from Scunthorpe, a trained teacher who also enjoys working at her local Morrison's. Lovely Rebecca spent £10 on fabric to sew leaving presents for her pupils in her Year 5 Class! How nice is she!

Rebecca supports her local football team - Scunthorpe United, and very much a breath of fresh air for television - so lovely and soothing to watch. She says on GBSB that her mum is her best friend, "the most loving caring person in the world". A statement so lovely and heart-warming to hear on screen. Rebecca is on Instagram under the handle @rebeccamaydesigns. She quilts, sews garments and makes toys.

Farie - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Lovely Farie grew up in an African household. While wanting to study fashion when she was younger, she ended up reading Accounting instead. She lives in Dunstable with her husband and daughters. In the first episode in the Made to Measure challenge, something broke on Farie's sewing machine and she ran out of time to finish the buffet dress - BUT she managed to finish it as a beautiful tiered top. So well done there! We were so upset to see her cry! Despite being close to elimination in Week One, Farie managed to stay! Phew! Can't wait to see more from Farie. She is on Instagram but the account is private. The handle is @farie_zata.

Serena - Series 7 of the Great British Sewing Bee

Serena is a medical student in Edinburgh, and at 21 years old, she's the youngest sewer in the Great British Sewing Bee sewing room.

Serena did really well in the first episode, finishing on pole position in the first challenge, and her Buffet Dress was highly complimented by Esme and Patrick as well. Serena is on Instagram at @serenasews_. She has a number of IGTV tutorials covering scrunchies, sewing buttons and mending holes in clothes. On her feed, you will see Serana sews a huge range of different very colourful garments as well!
